From February 27 to March 2, 2009, the UC Davis Humanities Institute, the Multicampus Research Group in Studies of Food and the Body, and the Multicampus Research Group on World History are sponsoring a conference on "Tasting Histories: Food and Drink Cultures through the Ages." The free conference celebates the opening of the Robert Mondavi Institute at UC-Davis, and is coorganized by our colleague Benjamin Lawrance. The call for papers is available, with a deadline for proposals on October 1, 2008. Visit the conference website or download the flyer with further information!

The UC World History Workshop e-repository, hosted by the California Digital Library, has opened and contains a number of papers. Several papers from the site have since moved on to publication, including two by Edmund "Terry" Burke III and one by Dennis O. Flynn and Arturo Giraldez. The repository is part of the e-Scholarship initiative sponsored by the California Digital Library and the UC-Press. Take a look at http://repositories.cdlib.org/ucwhw/  Participants in future conferences, as well as graduate students working on dissertations with world or global themes, are strongly urged to submit their work for consideration.
