On February 2-2, 2008, the World History Workshop is holding an interdisciplinary world history conference on "Production and Consumption in World History." Please see the call for papers, and contact the conference organizer, Edmund "Terry" Burke III, by December 14, 2007. Paper proposals from graduate students are especially encouraged, and as always, while papers that resonate with the conference theme are of particular interest, 'off-theme' papers are also most welcome.

Recent conferences include a joint conference with the All-UC Economic History Group, held at UCSD in honor of our colleague David Ringrose, a conference on the theme of sexualities in world history at UC-Davis on April 21-22, 2007. The conference was organized in cooperation with the Cross-Cultural Women's and Gender History group at UC Davis, and a joint conference at UCLA with the Multicampus group on the History and Culture of Late Antiquity in June, 2007. The Late Antiquity group can be contacted via their website.

The UC World History Workshop e-repository, hosted by the California Digital Library, has opened and is steadily growing. Several papers from the site have since moved on to publication, including two by Edmund "Terry" Burke III and one by Dennis O. Flynn and Arturo Giraldez. The repository is part of the e-Scholarship initiative sponsored by the California Digital Library and the UC-Press. Take a look at http://repositories.cdlib.org/ucwhw/  Participants in future conferences, as well as graduate students working on dissertations with world or global themes, are strongly urged to submit their work for consideration.
